Wastewater Treatment Plants

SD1 staff works 24 hours a day, seven days a week to operate three major and award-winning wastewater facilities. We also operate several smaller wastewater treatment plants. All of our treatment plants clean and disinfect wastewater before returning the cleaned water to the Ohio River and other streams.

Dry Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant
This facility started operating in 1979 and is located at 2999 Amsterdam Road in Villa Hills. It can treat up to 46.5 million gallons of wastewater a day. Dry Creek is SD1’s largest treatment plant.

Eastern Regional Water Reclamation Facility

This facility started operating in 2007 and is located at 8880 East Main Street in Alexandria. It can treat up to 4 million gallons of wastewater a day. Eastern Regional is the smallest of SD1’s three major treatment plants.

Western Regional Water Reclamation Facility
This facility started operating in early 2012 and is located at 5459 Belleview Road in Petersburg. As SD1's second largest treatment plant, it relieves demand on Dry Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant. Western Regional can treat up to 20 million gallons of wastewater a day.
