SD1 Wet Weather Notification
Weather conditions indicate that sewer overflows may occur today, potentially sending untreated wastewater and storm water into local waterways and public spaces. You should avoid contact with rivers and streams, including swimming, boating, wading and fishing. This advisory will remain in effect for 72 hours after rainfall ends or 72 hours after Ohio River levels drop below 38 feet.
Did you know?
Even in dry weather, it is best to avoid contact with urban streams. Teach children to stay away from sewer overflow areas.
What’s being done to help?
In 2019, Sanitation District No. 1 launched Clean H2O40, a public initiative to eliminate Northern Kentucky's sanitary sewer overflows (SSOs) and dramatically reduce its combined sewer overflows (CSOs) by the year 2040.
This advisory is issued when rainfall of 0.25 inches or more is predicted or recorded anywhere in the SD1 service area, including Boone, Campbell and Kenton counties. An advisory will also be issued when the Ohio River level exceeds 38 feet.
